#ErikaChristensen Defends #Scientology: We Don’t Worship Rabbits

Erika Christensen Scientology

Scientology is making headlines again with the release of Lawrence Wright’s new book"Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood, and the Prison of Belief," and in the wake of the church’s bad publicity, "Parenthood" actress Erika Christensen is defending the controversial religion.

While appearing on her co-star Joy Bryant’s web series, the 30-year-old actress and lifelong member of the church took the opportunity to clear up misconceptions about the religion she calls a "huge part" of her life.

"[People assume] we’re some kind of closed group and we’re just the Hollywood religion … and we worship rabbits. I don’t actually know how many people think that," she joked.

Scientologists don’t worship rabbits, but members do believe that 75 million years ago,Xenu, dictator of the "Galactic Confederacy," sent billions of frozen souls on spaceships from his overpopulated planet to the bases of volcanoes on Earth. When the volcanoes erupted, the scattered souls or "thetans" found their way into human bodies, and their emotional issues haunt their human hosts, and Scientologists believe they must be purged through an expensive confessional practice called auditing.

Christensen grew up in the church and says she would have no problems introducing her future children to the religion.

"I would expose to them, like, this is what I do, which is how my parents did it, because my parents are Scientologists," she said, adding, "If I had to sum it up, the goal of Scientology is giving the person back to themselves. Like, your own power of choice."

Christensen, along with Tom Cruise, John Travolta and Kirstie Alley, is among the most high-profile members of the Church of Scientology, and its celebrity members are believed to give the religion, founded in 1953 by science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard, an air of credibility and attraction.

And as Christensen defends her beliefs, the church’s most high-profile former member, director Paul Haggis, continues to speak out and told NBC’s Harry Smith that he was ashamed of his own stupidity and that he could be so blind about the organization for so many years.

When asked if Scientology is a cult, Haggis didn’t mince words.

"Oh, of course it is. It’s a system of beliefs and you’ve got all these folks inside this fortress who won’t look out, who won’t look at any criticism and can’t bear any investigation and thinks everyone is against them. How would you describe that? It’s a cult," he said.

#TomCruise & #Scientology: New Book Details Actor’s Involvement In Church, Role It Played In His Divorce

Tom Cruise Scientology

Tom Cruise is the face of Scientology. He is easily the church’s most recognizable member, and though his lawyer asserts he has no official role within the church, a new tell-all book about the controversial organization claims to reveal the depths of his involvement.

In an excerpt from his new book, "Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood, and the Prison of Belief," author Lawrence Wright details how the church allegedly tried to seduce Cruise, made him their most important member and played a role in his divorce from Nicole Kidman.

Wright writes that the church’s current leader, David Miscavige, was "bedazzled by the glamour surrounding [Cruise]" and Cruise, for his part "fell under the spell of Miscavige’s commanding personality." He claims that in the early ’90s, Miscavige lured Cruise into the organization by surrounding the actor and Kidman with a "completely deferential environment as spotless and odorless as a fairy tale" at the church’s desert outpost near Hemet, Calif. Wright claims that when Miscavige learned of the couple’s fantasy of running through a field of wildflowers together, he went to extremes to make that fantasy a reality.

When Cruise and Kidman began drifting away from the organization in the mid-’90s, Miscavige blamed Kidman, whom he saw as a gold digger who was faking Scientology, says Marty Rathbun, a former high-ranking church official and the church’s most prominent detractor. Rathbun told Wright that Miscavige hoped if they convinced Cruise that his wife was a Suppressive Person, he would stray from her and find his way back to the church.

#CynthiaJorge #TomCruise Not Likely To Last If Tabloid Attention Continues, Says Source

Cynthia Jorge Tom Cruise

Is Cynthia Jorge, a 26-year-old Queens native and New York City restaurant manager, Tom Cruise’s new girlfriend? That’s what the cover of In Touch magazine says. However, friends of Tom’s say after this cover, anything she might have had with Tom, is off.

The pair was spotted dancing at NYC’s Le Baron nightclub on Dec. 18, just two days after Tom met Cynthia after dining at Beauty & Essex, where she works.

“Cynthia used to work at Benjamin Steakhouse in midtown before she got her job on the Lower East Side. And before that, she was a party promoter,” a friend of Cynthia’s tells The Huffington Post. “She has always liked press attention and wanted to be famous.”

In an interview from when she was working at the steakhouse, Cynthia said her favorite part of her job was "meeting new people, from CEOs to celebrities to just really interesting people in the industry. That and the food. I always say I’m so spoiled because every day I get to feast on some of the most amazing food in the city — not to mention the best steak. I was a vegetarian for 10 years before starting to work with Benjamin’s, now I’ll never look back.”

However, it looks like all this attention will kill any chances of seeing much more of Tom. “He hates it when he thinks people leak stories about him to the press,” says one friend of the actor.

Celebrity Drinking Confessions: Stars Who Admit They Enjoy A Nice Cocktail

Celebrity Drinking Confessions

We may not see them behind close doors, but some celebrities don’t mind discussing their drinking habits in public.

A handful of stars have admitted they enjoy a good cocktail every now and then — whether it be on-air, in interviews or at award shows. Take Amanda Seyfried, for example. Just last week, the "Les Miserables" star revealed she was a little tipsy during her appearance on "The Late Show with David Letterman." (Which she says is normal for her).

"I understand that I have a problem, maybe," Seyfried told Letterman of her liquid courage. "But you know what? It really gets me through."

Another talk show drinker? Robert Pattinson.

While promoting "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2" on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" in November, Pattinson told Kimmel he sipped on some vodka before the interview.

"I feel like I’m a clown!" he laughed, adding that his shoes were a bit too big, "I felt like I wasn’t going to fall over … I just had a little bit of vodka backstage."

#TomCruise #Scientology Allegations: Alleged Auditioned Girlfriend Speaks Out Against Church & Famous Ex In Rap Song

Tom Cruise Scientology Allegations

Tom Cruise’s ex-girlfriend, Nazanin Boniadi is speaking out against the Church of Scientology in the form of a rap song which name checks some of the most famous faces in the organization.

Gawker posted a video shot by former Village Voice editor and veteran Scientology watchdog Tony Ortega, featuring an anti-Scientology rap by Los Angeles-based Italian producer Titziano Lugli.

Boniadi, the actress and former Scientologist that Vanity Fair’s Maureen Orth alleged was auditioned by the church to be Cruise’s girlfriend back in late 2004, participated in the rap — which is the first time she’s spoke out against the church.

Boniadi was not quoted in Orth’s article, and reps for Cruise denied that the actress ever auditioned to be his significant other, so her participation in the song is the first proof of her disenchantment with the church.

In the song she raps:

"This ain’t no road to freedom / It’s a blind alley, like Kirstie Alley / Travolta, and Cruise, but we ain’t no fools."

It’s significant that Boniadi name checks Scientology’s three famous members, including Cruise. According to Ortega, Lugli had written more lines for her that spoke directly to the way she’d allegedly been treated by Cruise, but she said she’d rather sing another song that she’d written — a ballad about her "’faith’ being betrayed by someone who was going to be visited by ‘demons.’"

Orth alleged in her Vanity Fair article that after Boniadi was dismissed by Cruise, she finally broke down in tears to a "friend" about her ordeal with the actor. She was allegedly punished by Scientology officials, who made her scrub toilets with a toothbrush, clean bathroom tiles with acid and dig ditches in the middle of the night. She was later sent out to hawk Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard’s "Dianetics" on street corners.

#SuriCruise #Tantrum : #TomCruise #KatieHolmes Daughter Makes Sassy Faces

suri cruise tantrum

Suri Cruise has never been one to suppress her true feelings.

Whether horrified by the injustice of having her ice cream cone taken from her, or distraught after having been denied a puppy, Suri lets her rage be known.

And this week was no different. Suri, 6, was seen exhibiting facial expressions that we often wish were socially acceptable for adults.

No word on what she was so riled up about. Perhaps Suri was angry that her new school requires a preppy uniform, when her boho-chic ensemble insists her free-spirited style shouldn’t be stifled.
